End The Mistake Of The Iraq War

After 20 years, we must bring our troops home!

For 20 years our troops have been fighting and sacrificing in Iraq – one of the biggest foreign policy mistakes in American history.

The conflict has cost the lives of more than 4,600 troops and more than $2 trillion of taxpayer money. Americans have not been made safer with this conflict, and our continued deployments in Iraq actually contribute to empowering hostile actors in the region.

We still have roughly 2,500 American troops deployed to Iraq. Regardless of whether it is called a combat mission or classified as “train and assist,” those troops and bases are still in harm’s way, with hostile militias targeting them routinely.

Our continued presence in Iraq allows U.S. adversaries like Iran to cheaply target our troops and has benefitted our great power competitors like China and Russia by delaying U.S. modernization efforts and keeping us bogged down in a strategically unimportant region. As issues continue to emerge in Eastern Europe and especially East Asia, it’s essential we refocus our military resources where they’re most needed.

As my voice in Congress, I am asking you to support efforts to bring all our troops home from Iraq, work to repeal the authorizations that sent them there, and start demanding answers about whether these endless wars serve our national security at all, so we can rethink our approach to American foreign policy.
