We thank you for listening to us and voting NO against supporting Ukraine spending packages in Washington.

You continue to distinguish yourself as a principled leader dedicated to securing the freedom and liberty our nation’s veterans have fought and sacrificed to defend.

You’ve proven yourself as one of the few leaders in Washington willing to put principle above politics to do the right thing for Montana and the United States. Thank you for understanding there is a true cost to funding new wars and endless wars.

Please keep up your principled leadership and support for a foreign policy of realism and restraint, one which puts America first.

Recently, The Biden Administration has expanded U.S. policy aims to include helping the Ukrainian military achieve ‘victory.’ However, the conditions and requirements to accomplish this result were left undefined. As the White House requested $33 billion in aid for Ukraine, CVA called on Congress to ask the tough questions and demand answers as to what the administration’s goals were in Ukraine.

Lawmakers then put forward a $40 billion aid package – nearly $7 billion more than requested by the White House and in addition to the already-approved $14 billion in aid. Congress essentially rubber-stamped this package with little question or debate.

Russia’s war on Ukraine is immoral and unjustified. Prolonging or expanding the war will only bring more devastation and suffering for the Ukrainian people, leaving them worse off and Americans no safer or more prosperous. Before sending more hard-earned taxpayer dollars to fund a war with marginal-to-no connection to our national security, the Biden Administration and Congress need to define how additional funding will benefit U.S. interests and what their strategy is to bring about an end to the war in Ukraine.

Last month, Concerned Veterans for America (CVA), in conjunction with YouGov, released the results of a new poll of the American public. The poll gauged opinions on the Biden Administration’s handling of foreign policy, including the war in Ukraine, and its use of the United States military. By and large, Americans signaled opposition to American troops engaging in direct combat in the war in Ukraine and would rather the Biden administration prioritize domestic issues over ensuring a complete defeat of Russia.
