Tell Congress: Pass the Take Care of America’s Veterans Act

Veterans deserve timely care, real choice, and a VA that works for them

Dear Official(s),

As your constituent, I urge you to support and pass the Take
Care of America’s Veterans Act (H.R. 9237 / S. 4744).
America’s veterans have sacrificed in service to our
country. They deserve timely, high-quality healthcare and the freedom to
access the care that best meets their needs. Unfortunately, too many veterans
still face unnecessary delays, confusing bureaucracy, and barriers to using
community care options they have already earned.
The Take Care of America’s Veterans Act would help ensure
that the promise of veterans’ healthcare choice becomes a reality in everyday
practice.
This legislation would protect access to community care,
require the VA to inform eligible veterans when they qualify for those options,
and ensure veterans understand why a referral may have been denied and how to
appeal. Veterans should not have to fight the system just to learn what care
they are allowed to receive.
The bill would also bring needed accountability to VA wait
times. The clock should start when a veteran requests care, not when paperwork
is entered into a system. The VA should not be able to reset wait times by
canceling and rescheduling appointments. Veterans deserve honest standards and
transparent access to care.
I also support the bill’s efforts to modernize the VA
experience through an online self-service portal, improve access to urgent
inpatient mental health care, encourage innovation in care delivery, and
strengthen independent oversight of the Veterans Health Administration.
Veterans should never have to choose between waiting for
care and getting the care that best meets their needs. Congress has an
opportunity to strengthen veterans’ healthcare choice, improve accountability,
and help the VA better serve the men and women who served our country.

America’s veterans kept their commitment to our country. Now Congress must keep its commitment to them.
Too often, veterans face unnecessary bureaucracy, confusing referral processes, and long waits for the care they earned in the line of duty. The VA MISSION Act was supposed to give veterans greater access to care, including the ability to seek care in their local communities when the VA cannot meet their needs in a timely way. But years of bureaucratic barriers have made it harder for too many veterans to use those options.
The Take Care of America’s Veterans Act would help fix that.
This legislation protects veterans’ healthcare choice, improves transparency, holds the VA accountable for accurate wait times, modernizes the veteran experience, strengthens access to mental health care, and encourages innovation across the VA health system.
Veterans should never have to choose between waiting for care and getting the care that best meets their needs. Urge your lawmakers to support and pass the Take Care of America’s Veterans Act.
