VA Leaders Misusing Funds MUST Resign Now!
VA IG finds officials improperly issued nearly $11 MILLION in bonuses while veterans are waiting for care
Reports have come out revealing that more than 180 Department of Veterans Affairs executives were improperly awarded nearly $11 million in bonuses, taking the funds from money Congress had provided to recruit and retain critical staff needed to process veteran claims in the wake of the PACT Act.
The VA Inspector General found VA Undersecretary for Health, Shereef Elnahal, signed off on 148 of these bonuses. Joshua Jacobs, the Undersecretary for Benefits, awarded another 34 of the bonuses. Neither Jacobs nor Elnahal followed rules about who to notify before handing out payments. What's more, the VA Office Inspector General reports that they enabled several senior executives to contribute to decisions on bonuses for themselves and did not meaningfully analyze whether the bonuses were justified to begin with before awarding them to senior staff.
Both Undersecretary Elnahal and Jacobs MUST resign from the VA immediately - demand accountability for the misuse of federal funds intended to help America's veterans get the quality and timely care they've earned by signing the letter to your lawmaker now!
