As your constituent, I'm asking you to support the Complete the Mission Act immediately.
Six years ago, President Trump signed the VA MISSION Act into law. For the last three and a half years, the Biden administration and senators like SVAC leader Jon Tester have empowered leaders at the VA to undermine and obscure the law, keeping veterans that need everything from timely and quality routine care to critical physical and mental health appointments trapped in a system that can demand they wait months or travel hundreds of miles even if a provider up the road from them could help.
Our nation's heroes shouldn't suffer the consequences of delayed or denied health care simply because of a lack of options. As your constituent, I encourage you to seize this opportunity to hold VA leadership to the letter of the law. Let's ensure veterans have easy access to community care, when it's appropriate. Support the Complete the Mission Act, to codify community care access standards, and ensure that America's warfighters get the care they've earned. It is past time that VA leaders follow the rules for community care, the Complete the Mission will ensure they do so going forward, and the incoming leaders honor the intent of the VA MISSION Act by passing the bill.

In 2018, President Trump signed the VA MISSION Act into law, which expanded options for veterans to get care from community health care providers when the VA isn't able to meet their needs. Unfortunately, the Biden administration's VA, with support from politicans like the outgoing Senate Veterans Affairs Committee Chair Jon Tester, Rep. Takano, and Sen. Sanders, have been working overtime to undermine the spirit of the MISSION Act and keep veterans from accessing the care they've earned.

Instead of offering veterans the option to seek care from local providers, the VA often encourages veterans to wait months or drive hundreds of miles out of state to other VA facilities. Too often, delaying care, such as urgent mental health treatment - forces veterans to suffer and sometimes die trying to get the appointments they need. The Biden administration, their supporters in Congress, and the current VA Secretary Denis McDonough, prefer that veterans stay trapped in this broken health care system to justify the bloated VA budget.

Political leaders who claim to care about veterans' wellbeing need to empower our nation's heroes to access the timely and quality care they have earned. Sign this letter now to demand Congress works to hold the VA accountable to follow the law by passing the Complete the Mission Act. Veterans' lives depend on it.
